Hedescribes (1775) how he has been watching Cordyceps militaris for hoursin order to observe how change of wind and moisture made the fungusexpel spontaneous clouds of spores. The same dustingout, he has alsostudied with other Ascomycetes f. inst. Bulgaria inquinans, Helvellaspp., Spathularia etc. He writes about Carpobolus that he has seen thefungus fling out all its contents so that it described a parabola throughthe air; if this shell meets some obstacle a crack like that of an Elateris heard.
