RME2AEKD–Wooden sculpture Chimu imperial period 1300 - 1532 AD Museo de Arte Precolombino, Cusco - Peru Small wooden idol representing a standing figure holding with both hands a quena (reed flute) indicating the importance of music in ritual activities. The artist here presents a figurine laden with details and features, with a predominance of straight lines, severe and pronounced, by means of which he succeds in imparting the character with strong personality, complemented by his hierartic attitude and the ornamentation which he is embellished with.

RME2AEK2–Wooden sculpture Chimu imperial period 1300 - 1532 AD Museo de Arte Precolombino, Cusco - Peru A beautiful exponent of a Chimu idol which, in the manner of a totem, represents a character inherent in the iconography of that culture. The artist has rendered the woodwork with great ease and has applied the typical chimu designs, forms and details, creating a very elaborate ritual figurine in which we discover, for example, the angular form of the face crowned by a magnificent headdress and a pair of earplugs. This idol or ensign shows a marked plasticity remarkably applied to woodwork, the stat
