RMJT8T9Y–These yellow lichens growing on a large rock making an interesting nature study, as well as an intriguing background. The living organisms are a combination of a fungus that has a symbiotic relationship with either an alga or a bacteria. Lichen is considered one of the earliest life-forms and dates back at least 400 million years. These are called map lichens (Rhizocarpon geographicum) and each yellow patch has a black border of spores.

RMHEWE09–Corallina officinalis is a calcareous red seaweed which grows in the lower and mid-littoral zones on rocky shores. It is primarily found growing around the rims of tide pools, but can be found in shallow crevices anywhere on the rocky shore that are regularly refreshed with sea water. It predominantly grows on the lower shore, especially where fucoid algae are absent, but is also found further up shore on exposed coasts.
